the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research’s researchers work to enhance skin cleansing efficiency
The the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research team have recently published a research article in collaboration with WaterWipes UC, in which they explore an alternative approach to validate the cleaning efficiency of a skin cleansing wipe. The study evaluates the efficiency of WaterWipes® in removing synthetic faecal matter and Escherichia coli from volunteers’ skin.
Key Highlights from this review paper:
- Feclone removal was measured using the Antera 3D camera (Miravex Ltd., Dublin, Ireland), and E. coli removal was measured using standard microbiological methods.
- The Antera 3D camera captured images of the skin surface before and after wiping, showing the wipe effectively removed all detectable traces of Feclone.
- Post-wiping, the total pore area, pore count, and total pore volume in test participants were reduced on average by 39.05%, 34.39%, and 39.98%, respectively.
- The wipe removed 99.99% of E. coli (NCTC 10538), as measured by the microbial plate count method.
