Agriculture
The agri-food sector is one of Ireland’s most important indigenous manufacturing sectors, accounting for significant employment and being the cornerstone of many other sectors. The Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) has worked with a range of companies in Ireland to help support their R&D requirements in the agriculture sector.
The agriculture sector plays a pivotal role in Irish and global supply chains. The expansion of the global population will continue to put pressure on agricultural outputs, demanding more from less, while doing so in a sustainable way. The bioeconomy has a significant part to play in addressing this. Innovative use of bioresources and co-products, improved processing methods, and cross-sectoral collaboration are all essential for a functional bioeconomy.
CABR can support the agricultural sector through a range of capabilities:
- Analytical expertise (LC-MS, AA, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC-MS)
- Plant growth chambers
- Plant biostimulant expertise
- Optimal use of bioresources
