the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research will be taking part in Kerry Science Festival 2024
Kerry Science Festival 2024 is an annual celebration of STEM, featuring workshops, talks, and interactive activities for all ages. Part of the festival includes the STEM Showcase Day, which will take place on 16th November at MTU Kerry North Campus.
the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research will be involved in organising the following events during the STEM Showcase Day:
→ Test Your Shield – Interactive Skin Testing – 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (16th November 2024, MTU Kerry North Campus)
Your skin is your first shield of defense against invaders such as infection with viruses and bacteria. Test how strong your skin shield is with skin science experiments.

Experience how shining light can make the invisible visible to the human eye, with an exciting display of interactive optical illusions and light science experiments.

→ Cell Explorers Session – 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (16th November 2024, MTU Kerry North Campus)
This session provides children and young people with the opportunity to engage in hands-on modern biology. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the role and structure of cells and DNA – the building blocks of life – and will practice the DNA extraction experiment individually.
