CircBio Group at CABR launched EMBEDED
We are pleased to announce the launch of EMBEDED, a new Horizon Europe bioeconomy project in which CircBio Research Group at the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) will play a pivotal role through its applied research expertise in bioeconomy.
The EMBEDED project aims to transform agrifood residues such as olive pomace, grape mark, and cork bark into biochar and eco-construction boards, supporting carbon storage and resilient local value chains.
Over the next 36 months, five pilot sites across Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and the Czech Republic will demonstrate modular pyrolysis units and bioactive extraction methods, while validating the local (km.0) use of biochar and exploring new regional markets.
CircBio Research Group at CABR, MTU, will be involved in the project, working alongside partners including University College Dublin (UCD) and Carbery Group, as well as 15 other consortium members from across Europe.
