CABR & CircBio’s Involvement during Research to Impact Showcase 2025 at MTU Cork

On April 8th and 9th 2025, the MTU Cork Research to Impact Showcase took place, where MTU researchers had an opportunity to showcase interesting insights and takeaways from their research work, and CABR researchers were actively involved in the showcase: 

CircBio group at CABR researchers (Simon Patterson, Dr. Jennifer Attard, Dr. Aleksandra Augustyniak, Dr. Tracey O’Connor, James Gaffey, Dr. Helena McMahon) presented their research on topics such as: 

  • Food waste prevention using a total food system sustainability approach 
  • Understanding market conditions as a cause of food loss and waste in the primary production stage 
  • Supporting sustainable development with a circular bioeconomy approach in rural sub-Saharan Africa 

Dr. Aleksandra Augustyniak (Postdoctoral researcher at CircBio group at CABR) received an award for best poster for her research on the topic of ‘New value chains for biorefinery waste streams’.

Joanne Hanifin, PhD Researcher at CABR, had the opportunity to showcase her PhD research focusing on the MAPBIO-MILK project.
