CABR at the MTU Research to Impact Showcase 2026
Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) researchers participated in the Research to Impact Showcase, organised by the MTU Research Office and hosted at the Le Chéile Building, Bishopstown Campus, MTU on 20 May 2026.
The event brought together research entities, post-doctoral researchers, and external speakers to showcase the depth and impact of research underway at MTU.
CABR’s contribution to the event included:
- Dr Niall Burke (Senior Business Development Scientist, CABR) presented on CABR’s research work, outlining its areas of research expertise and capabilities
- Dr Sana Sehar (Postdoctoral Researcher, CircBio at CABR) presented on the DOT.GREEN project, which focuses on the development, optimisation, and exploitation of Ireland’s first green biorefinery pilot and demonstration facilities. The DOT.GREEN project is led by Prof James Gaffey (Co-director, CircBio at CABR), CABR researchers involved in this project includes Dr Jagdeep Kumar Nayak (Postdoctoral Researcher, CircBio at CABR), Dr Sana Sehar (Postdoctoral Researcher, CircBio at CABR), Dr Joanna Przyborska (Postdoctoral Researcher, CircBio at CABR) and Dr Alifia Mulyawati (Postdoctoral Researcher, CircBio at CABR)
- Dr Arnold Marisa (Postodoctoral Scientist, CABR) presented a poster (co-authors: Dr Tielidy Lima, Dr Tim Yeomans) showcasing the SPRINGWOOL project, a national research initiative to drive innovation, sustainability, and value in the Irish-grown wool sector. The project is led by Dr Tim Yeomans (Centre Manager, CABR, MTU), Dr Emma Murphy (Research Fellow and Group Lead, Bioengineering Research Group, CABR, TUS), Leo Murray (RD&I Engineer, ATU), and Dr Fionnuala Murphy (Associate Professor, UCD), with CABR Principal Investigators Dr Joanna Tierney (CABR, MTU) and Dr Peter Downey (CABR, TUS), also involved in the project, alongside Dr Tielidy Lima (Postdoctoral Scientist, Bioengineering Organ-on-Chip (BOOC) Research Group at CABR)
