Bioeconomy Ireland Week (BIW), 14th – 20th October 2024
Researchers from the Circular Bioeconomy Research Group (CIRCBIO), including Carmen Girón Domínguez and Husain Sadeqi, along with Teagasc researcher Thomas McCarthy, will participate in Bioeconomy Ireland Week (BIW) as part of the BBioNets project. During the event, BBioNets will host an online session to outline the project’s progress to date.
Guest speakers from similar bioeconomy projects will also participate. Additionally, stakeholders will have the opportunity to join the Irish FAN (Forest and Agriculture Network), contributing suggestions for policymakers, industries, and researchers to a future policy paper.

What is Bioeconomy Ireland Week?
Bioeconomy Ireland Week is an annual event aimed at highlighting and raising awareness of Ireland’s rapidly growing bioeconomy. It features a series of events and awareness-raising initiatives involving industry, local communities, producers, researchers, and students throughout Ireland.
What is the BBioNets project and its connection to the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research?
BBioNets is an EU project with six established regional Forest and Agriculture Networks (FANs) across Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The project promotes and advances the management and processing of agricultural and forest biomass using bio-based technologies (BBTs). Coordinated by Munster Technological University (MTU) in Ireland, BBioNets builds on the work of the EIP-AGRI Operational Groups (OGs) focused on agricultural and forest biomass management and processing through BBTs.
