Analysing Fatty Acids with Agilent GC

Ahmed Abdellatif, PhD researcher of the CircAB research group at CABR (shown in the video), is analysing samples using the Agilent 7890A Gas Chromatography instrument, manufactured by Agilent, as part of his PhD studies, which focus on valorising waste streams and bioremediating wastewater in meat industry.

The objective of this analysis is to identify different types and quantities of fatty acids in a waste stream sample.

Identifying the fatty acid profile in a waste stream sample is crucial for understanding the composition of the waste, as well as determining its suitability for certain applications such as animal feed, biodiesel, and soap production. Analysing fatty acids can also help in waste classification and proper management.

The CABR Technology Gateway is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27.
