CABR Contribution to the SMART-RURAL COST Action
Damian Gornik (Communications Officer, CABR) recently participated in a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) as part of the SMART-RURAL COST Action (CA24170).
As a member of Working Group 4, Knowledge Dissemination and Capacity Building, Damian travelled to Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia, where he worked alongside Prof Daniela Bojadjieva, the SMART-RURAL Action Scientific Grant Coordinator, on the development of communication resources to support the Action’s dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities.
A key output of the STSM was the development of the first draft of the SMART-RURAL Communication Strategy and draft communication templates to support dissemination activities across the Action.
What are COST Actions?
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Actions are interdisciplinary research networks that bring together researchers and innovators from the EU, the wider European region, and global partner countries to investigate a topic of their choice for four years. COST Actions are typically made up of researchers from academia, SMEs, public institutions, and other relevant organisations and stakeholders.
About the SMART-RURAL COST Action
SMART-RURAL (CA24170 – Building Resilient Rural Communities through Synergy of Traditional Knowledge and Technological Innovation) is a European COST Action that brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers and rural community representatives to address challenges facing rural areas, including depopulation, economic stagnation, climate change impacts and digital divides.
SMART-RURAL focuses on four key areas: traditional knowledge systems and rural resilience, technological innovation for rural development, integrated resilience assessment and monitoring, and knowledge dissemination and capacity building.
Through participatory research, pilot projects and cross-border collaboration, the Action aims to identify best practices, develop resilience frameworks and support policies that contribute to sustainable, inclusive and resilient rural communities across Europe.
