CABR at Kerry Science Festival 2025
CABR had been pleased to participate in Kerry Science Festival 2025 at MTU Kerry, an annual celebration of STEM that brought together learners of all ages for interactive workshops, demonstrations and exhibits.
CABR organised a range of activities designed to spark curiosity and showcase the role of applied bioscience in everyday life, including:
- Recycled Ocean Workshop – A creative workshop for children of all ages that combined art and science to explore the amazing world of the ocean, facilitated by Dr Aleksandra Augustyniak (CircBio at CABR).
- Body Systems Explorer – An interactive activity that helped participants explore how the human body functions, facilitated by Damian Gornik (CABR), Dr Anuma Singh (CABR), and Lord Gyimah (CABR).
- Farming in a Sustainable Future – A walk-in exhibition that explored how grassland farming can adapt to meet climate and sustainability targets, facilitated by Prof James Gaffey (CircBio at CABR), Dr Joanna Przyborska (CircBio at CABR), Adam Mulcahy (CircBio at CABR), Megan O’Brien (CircBio at CABR), and Dr Sana Sehar (CircBio at CABR).
- Cell Explorers – Fantastic DNA in a Box! – This workshop gave children and young people the opportunity to engage in hands-on modern biology, facilitated by Dr Niall Burke (CABR) and Dr Bernard Boateng (MTU).
- Test Your Shield – Interactive Skin Testing – An interactive demonstration that explored how the skin acts as the body’s first line of defence against invaders such as viruses and bacteria, facilitated by Dr Joanna Tierney (CABR, MTU), Niamh Hennessy (CABR), and Tara O Halloran Cronin (Kerry College).
Thank you to Sarah Flaherty, Dr Fiona Boyle and the entire team for organising the festival!
